Predator: Requiem, as an adult Predalien makes the first film appearance. The pressure here is several dozen times higher than at the surface and as a result its body is little more than a gelatinous mass. When Ripley throws one off her, the facehugger was now capable of scuttling across the floor and leaping at its prey, wrapping its tail around the victim’s throat. This can be resolved by save/quitting, then reloading the game. A Night Hand will still extinguish a fire even after the player has triggered its retreating animation by stepping on it. A Terrorbeak’s body can disappear, with only the beak and legs visible.
Not to be confused with the freshwater hatchetfish found in many home aquariums this species was named after the distinctive hatchet shape of its body. They have a skeletal, biomechanical appearance and are usually colored in muted shades of black, gray or bronze. Shadow Creatures are similar to the monsters in Lovecraftian literature; otherworldly beings that are able to move through dimensions and cause humans to go insane. The Newborn’s eyes and nose were added to improve its expressions to make it a character, rather than just a «killing machine», and give it depth as a character.
Like human-born Aliens, it is also shown to be stronger than its host species, as evidenced by its ability to pin, push, and knock a Predator away with ease. Though initially confused, the military’s subsequent attacks frighten and later enrage the monster. The larval stage or «facehugger» does have a single eye.
